Inspired by the universe of Shakespeare’s taming of the shrew, RAMP tells the story of the student occupation of public schools in Sao Paulo through multi-voiced accounts of those involved. An original devised piece created collaboratively by students of Cultura Inglesa and professional actors. The performers themselves are researchers, writers and creators, who, guided by theatre maker Shona Cowie, worked from Shakespeare’s play and the gathered testimonies of those fighting for and against the student occupation. We sought to explore the question, who is taming who?
Grupo Margem, collaborated as designers on the piece offering there highly dynamic and architectural voice and a rich creative dialogue between design and performance.
