Hello, I'm Shona
I am from Ayrshire on the beautiful South West Coast of Scotland, with a childhood dominated by climbing trees and spending time in ballet classes.
I trained at the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama in Drama, Applied Theatre and Education and, after an internship with the National Theatre of Scotland, went on to work in the North of England with The York Theatre Royal as Creative Education Associate. At this time, while leading diverse creative education and theatre projects, I began performing as a story teller and building a portfolio as a freelance choreographer.
In 2014 I completed my training in Paris with the Ecole Jacques Lecoq on their two year professional programme of theatre of creation and movement. There, I became a founding member of Théâtre Senza, an international troupe of devised theatre makers who specialise in using ethnographic and cultural field research within theatre. Whilst in France, I worked in the Louvre museum as a private guide for children with the Paris Muse Education Group.
In 2015 I built Teatro Fósforo in São Paulo, Brazil, working with educative and cultural bodies to encourage creative engagement with language learning. I continue to work internationally but have recently moved my base home to South West Scotland. In 2017, I joined the Paper Birds theatre company, touring the UK as performer, facilitator and devising collaborator.
Right now I am home and thrilled to be focused on building a robust practice on my turf.
